How Do I... Benefits Summary for Active Employees Forms Personalized Benefits Statement Transtion Benefits Life Changing Events
The University of Tennessee offers a core employee benefit package with traditional benefits such as health and dental care, life insurance, deferred compensation and retirement plans as well as options for expanding that coverage. Additional group insurance protection is available on a voluntary basis where the total cost of such protection is paid by the employee. These benefits include; long term disability and additional term and universal life insurance as well as expanded accidental death and dismemberment coverage. These benefits have long been an acknowledged integral part of the employment package and appreciated because of its extensiveness and affordability to the employees. UT also offers a wide range of family-friendly and cultural benefits to attract, support and reward the skilled employees that help the University of Tennessee remain a leading education, research and agriculture institution.
When you have a life qualifying event you may need to make these changes with several of your benefit providers. Refer to our "How Do I" section for a complete listing of benefit areas to consider. Some of the changes include changing your address, name, and beneficiary/ies or a correction to your Personal Data on file with the university. You may wish to make changes to your deferred compensation (401k, 457, 403b) enrollment/contribution or your 403b provider. Or perhaps changes with your retirement pension plan (TCRS, ORP, JCRS, CSRS, FERS). One important area these changes could affect is you health insurance. If you should experience a qualifying life event you may need to make changes to some of your benefits within 60 days of the event. Any changes you make must be consistent with your qualifying event and does not qualify you to add benefits you do not already have.
