Customer Service Certification

The Customer Service certification is planned for all UT employees interested in advancing their skills in customer service.  The certification is geared to the needs of employees who serve in administrative support roles as well as in management positions.  The purpose of the new certification is to provide training in a variety of service-related topics, such as establishing departmental standards; using technology for top-quality customer service; developing a positive, professional image; enhancing customer service relationships; creating satisfaction surveys, and more!  Employees at any level in the university will benefit from the knowledge and skills they will learn in the Customer Service certification. 

The certification requires completion of 11 classes, totaling 32 hours of training.  When participants take the prerequisite course, “Customer Service 101,” their progress in the certification is tracked.  Participants must take the following 11 classes to complete the Customer Service certification:

  4. Your Forgotten Customers: Internal Customer Service
  5. Satisfaction Guaranteed: Implementing Customer Feedback

  7. Keeping Good Customer Relations: The Royal Treatment
  8. Setting Top Quality Customer Service Standards
  9. Projecting a Positive Image: Customer Service for the Frontline
  10. Fostering Relationships: The Many Faces of Customer Service
  11. Rebounding from Challenging Customer Service Situations*

Two sessions of “Customer Service 101” will be offered in fall 2009, and other course offerings within the Customer Service certification will follow in spring 2010.
