2011 Employee Engagement Survey

A record-high 7,100 University of Tennessee employees statewide participated in the 2011 Employee Engagement Survey and shared feedback on topics such as:

  • Pay
  • Benefits
  • Job Satisfaction
  • Work Culture
  • Performance Evaluation
  • Training
  • Diversity
  • Professional Development
  • Leadership
  • Communication

More than 5,700 regular faculty and staff scheduled to work at least 50 percent time completed the survey in November 2011. Additionally, more than 1,300 faculty and exempt staff on the UT Knoxville campus completed the same survey in spring 2011. Feedback from these groups was included in the results shared through open forums held at each campus and institute in spring 2012.

To ensure anonymity of responses, a nationally recognized, third-party vendor, ModernThink, administered the survey. Participant identity is confidential, and employees were encouraged to respond candidly. The survey took about 20 minutes to complete.

Results are being used in many ways, big and small, at both system and campus levels. Visit the Next Steps and Monitoring Progress section to learn more about implementation progress.

Employee input is critical to making the University of Tennessee a better place to work. Thanks to everyone who took advantage of this opportunity to voice their opinions.
